Kbal Spean And Banteay Srei Tour Itinerary (Full Day)

Here’s a detailed tour itinerary for visiting Kbal Spean and Banteay Srei, two captivating sites located in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province. This itinerary combines nature exploration with historical and cultural immersion.

MORNING:

8:00 AM: Departure from Siem Reap, after breakfast, we will pick you up from your hotel. First, we’ll assist you in purchasing your Angkor pass, and then we’ll begin our tour: Begin your journey early to make the most of the day. Depart from Siem Reap by private car or van, enjoying the scenic countryside as you drive toward Kbal Spean, which is about 57 kilometers from the city.

9:30 AM: Arrive at Kbal Spean: Known as the “River of a Thousand Lingas,” Kbal Spean is an archaeological site set deep within the jungle. After arrival, take a moderate 1.5 km uphill hike through the lush forest. The hike takes around 45 minutes, and along the way, you’ll enjoy the serene surroundings and wildlife.

10:30 AM: Explore Kbal Spean: At the top, marvel at the intricately carved lingas (phallic symbols of fertility) and depictions of Hindu gods etched into the riverbed. The carvings date back to the 11th century and are submerged during the rainy season, but visible during the dry months. This spot offers a blend of natural beauty and historical significance. Don’t miss the small waterfall that cascades over the carvings during the wet season.

AFTERNOON

1:00 PM: Depart for Banteay Srei temple; After a 30-minute drive from Kbal Spean, arrive at the enchanting Banteay Srei, a temple known as the “Citadel of Women” due to the intricacy and elegance of its carvings. This 10th-century Hindu temple is dedicated to Shiva and constructed with pink sandstone, which gives it a unique hue compared to other Angkor temples.

Banteay Srei Tour: Explore the temple’s stunning reliefs and detailed carvings, some of the most elaborate in all of Cambodia. The figures depict scenes from Hindu mythology, including depictions of Shiva, Vishnu, and celestial beings. The smaller scale of Banteay Srei makes it a peaceful site to explore and appreciate the fine craftsmanship.
