10:00 AM | Explore Phnom Chiso Temple
Arriving at Phnom Chiso, an ancient Khmer temple perched on a hilltop, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding plains. Built in the 11th century during the reign of King Suryavarman I, this historical site offers stunning architecture and intricate carvings that reflect Cambodia’s rich heritage.

Highligh: Built in the 11th Century – Phnom Chiso Temple was constructed during the reign of King Suryavarman I (r. 1010–1050), one of the greatest rulers of the Khmer Empire. Dedicated to Hinduism – The temple was originally built as a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva and Vishnu, reflecting the religious influences of the time. Angkorian Architecture – Though smaller than the temples of Angkor, Phnom Chiso features classic Khmer architectural elements, including sandstone lintels, intricate carvings, and laterite walls. Strategic Hilltop Location – Situated at 130 meters above sea level, the temple offers a commanding view of the surrounding rice fields, villages, and ancient reservoirs, which were part of Khmer-era irrigation systems. Connection to Other Temples – The layout of Phnom Chiso aligns with Prasat Neang Khmau and Tonle Bati, showing a connection between religious sites in the region.

🦁 12:00 PM | Visit Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center
Next, we drive to Phnom Tamao Zoo, Cambodia’s largest wildlife sanctuary. Home to rescued animals, including elephants, tigers, leopards, and sun bears, this center plays a vital role in wildlife conservation. Walk through the spacious enclosures and learn about Cambodia’s unique wildlife and the efforts to protect them.

🍽 1:30 PM | Lunch Break (Own Expense)
Take a break for lunch at a local restaurant near the zoo, where you can enjoy traditional Cambodian dishes.

🏛 3:00 PM | Visit Ta Prohm Temple (Tonle Bati)
On the way back, we stop at Ta Prohm Temple at Tonle Bati, a hidden gem from the late 12th century. This small but well-preserved temple features intricate carvings and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a perfect stop for history lovers and photography enthusiasts.
