DAY-1:

Small Circuit Tour Itinerary

5:00 AM – Sunrise at Angkor Wat Start your day early to witness the beautiful sunrise at Angkor Wat, the largest and most iconic temple. The view of the temple’s reflection on the moat during sunrise is a magical experience. Spend 2–3 hours exploring the intricate bas-reliefs, galleries, and towers of Angkor Wat.

– Visit Angkor Thom: Enter the grand city of Angkor Thom via the South Gate. The gate is flanked by statues of gods and demons.

– Explore Bayon Temple, known for its 54 towers and over 200 smiling stone faces. Walk through the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King.

LATE MORNING:

Visit the nearby Baphuon, a three-tiered temple mountain, which was once one of the largest temples in the city.

Phimeanakas & the Royal Palace Stroll through the former royal enclosure and visit the small pyramid temple of Phimeanakas.

LUNCH BREAK:

12:00 PM – Take a break for lunch. There are many local restaurants or food stalls around Angkor Thom. Enjoy some traditional Khmer food like amok (a coconut-based curry) or lok lak (stir-fried beef).

AFTERNOON:

Ta Prohm (The Tomb Raider Temple) Head to Ta Prohm, famous for being overrun by jungle and used as a filming location for “Tomb Raider.” The large trees and vines growing out of the temple walls create a mystical and photogenic atmosphere.

Banteay Kdei visit Banteay Kdei, a quiet Buddhist monastic complex with fewer crowds. It has beautiful, intricate carvings and is a peaceful place to explore.

Srah Srang (Royal Baths) End your day with a visit to Srah Srang, the royal bathing pool located in front of Banteay Kdei. This serene spot is perfect for a quiet reflection or a scenic sunset if you prefer a less crowded spot than Angkor Wat.

AFTERNOON: CHAU SREI VIBOL / CHAW SREI VIBLE TEMPLE

1:30 PM – Drive From the Roluos Group, Chau Srei Vibol is about 16 km (15 or 20 minutes by car). The route will take you through charming rural landscapes, rice paddies, and small villages.

Chau Srei Vibol Temple: Visit Around 2 hours

Nature Walk: Take a short walk around the temple to explore the natural surroundings. Secluded Location: Unlike the crowded temples of Angkor, Chau Srei Vibol is a hidden gem tucked away in the countryside, offering a tranquil and serene experience. Hilltop Setting: The temple is uniquely positioned on a low hill, providing picturesque views of the surrounding rural landscape, including rice fields and villages. Central Sanctuary: The main sanctuary is partially ruined but retains its historical charm, with remnants of intricate carvings and stone structures.

Sprawling Layout: Unlike many compact temples, Chau Srei Vibol covers a larger area with scattered ruins, including an outer wall and gallery, giving visitors a sense of exploration. Unrestored Authenticity: The temple is largely unrestored, allowing visitors to see it in its raw and natural state, surrounded by overgrown vegetation. Peaceful Ambiance: With few visitors, it’s an ideal spot for quiet reflection and to connect with Cambodia’s history without distractions.

Local Monastery: An active Buddhist monastery nearby adds a cultural layer to your visit. You can observe monks going about their daily routines.
